Geotechnical Survey

Cypress Energy Successfully Completes Geotechnical Survey for Eban 2A Well Accra, Ghana – January 15, 2024 – Cypress Energy is pleased to announce the successful completion of a comprehensive geotechnical survey at the Eban 2A well location offshore Ghana. This critical project, conducted over two weeks, aimed to assess seabed conditions and gather vital data to support the safe and efficient deployment of a jackup rig for future drilling operations.

Unwavering Collaboration

Cypress Energy partnered closely with key stakeholders, including ENI, RINA, Tarka Hydrocore, GNPC, and PC, throughout the project. This collaborative approach ensured seamless alignment with project goals, strict adherence to regulatory requirements, and the development of robust engineering solutions based on the survey findings.

Overcoming Challenges

While unforeseen circumstances necessitated a shift to an alternate well location and drilling complications extended the initial timeline, the dedicated Cypress Energy team persevered to deliver the project within the planned timeframe. The survey encompassed mobilization and demobilization of a specialized vessel equipped with cutting-edge geotechnical and geophysical instruments, data acquisition and analysis, and the generation of detailed reports.

Advanced Technology at Work

The survey vessel featured dynamic positioning capabilities for precise station-keeping and housed sophisticated tools such as cone penetration testing (CPT) systems, a sector scanner, and drilling and coring rigs. These instruments enabled the collection of valuable data on soil properties, seabed morphology, and potential geohazards, providing a comprehensive understanding of the Eban 2A well site.

Data-Driven Decisions

By employing a combination of geotechnical and geophysical methods, including CPT for soil resistance measurement, sector scanning for seabed mapping, and core sample retrieval for in-depth analysis, the survey yielded crucial insights into the site's geotechnical profile. This comprehensive data will inform informed engineering decisions, optimize jackup rig design, and mitigate potential risks associated with future drilling activities.

Commitment to Progress

The successful completion of the Eban 2A geotechnical survey marks a significant milestone for Cypress Energy and underscores our unwavering commitment to utilizing cutting-edge technology and collaborative partnerships to drive progress in Ghana's oil and gas sector. We are confident that the valuable data acquired through this project will pave the way for the safe and successful development of the Eban 2A well, contributing to Ghana's long-term energy security and economic growth.
